Lutsen

This weekend we joined Jamins family for a little getaway on the North Shore. For those of you who live in Minneapolis and haven't made a trip up the shore, we highly recommend it! You almost feel like you are in another country, it's beautiful! The drive along the shore is so much fun. We had a great time enjoying the beautiful ride, listening to music and Craig Groeschel.

We stayed in a cabin that had three bedrooms off of the main living area. For this reason I was stressed that August wouldn't nap well or sleep (from noise) well in general, but he did awesome! Made life so much easier for us ;) He also did incredible on the 4 hour trip, what a gift! Oh and our cabin also had a fireplace and was right on Superior, just beautiful.

We love going to places that have no technology! There wasn't wifi in the cabin or a television, and cell phone reception wasn't the best. It made our two day trip feel so much longer! It was so refreshing for us as a family. It's sad how much technology can rob you from quality time with the people you care about the most.

With all that said, here are some pictures!

Baby Love

How many of you have gotten stuck (driving) in the snow this winter?! My poor husband has to keep rescuing me, I get over confident in what I can make it through in our car. My sister made me this incredible mix cd and that's what I blame for my most recent escapade. A and I were bopping out to run errands and our alley hadn't been plowed very well. I had the music (a great song I might add) up and was feelin good, so when I saw a huge patch of clearly unplowed snow-I thought for SURE I could make it. So I gunned it and made it like an inch! ugh. I could have sworn I could have made it over a mountain. So there I was, What's a girl to do? I can't leave the baby and I couldn't push it out alone. Thankfully someone driving by saw me and stopped to help. Isn't that nice? And he was patient! I was such a dork trying to "rock" the car out, I think he felt sorry for me ;). Needless to say, I was so blessed. Just when you think people aren't thoughtful like that any more, it was so refreshing! Makes me want to go out of my way to help others, I need to be more like that. For the record my husband DID make it....just as I was getting free. He told me to call if someone ended up helping me (that way he didn't have to leave work to help). Butttttt I forgot-poor guy :/

I got to meet my friends little baby today, He is adorable! It was great seeing a good college friend that I hadn't seen in a LONG time! This is Callahan, he's five days old and so sweet.

This snow did NOT help my spring fever

WHAT. A. TEASE. Seriously, all of that "warm" weather last week was heaven. I even had myself believing that this was it and spring was coming early! We went out on a walk and it was like the best day of my life, the fresh air and vitamin D = perfect. So you can imagine my great horror with all this snow, the nice thing was that Jamin worked from home yesterday. It was SO great having him around! He was working and doing his thing, but just to be home together felt so great. It does amaze me how he actually did work. If I had a "work from home day" I wouldn't have the discipline to stay focused and do it, I really need to work on discipline ;). Jamin is incredible in that way, he's such a hard worker and so efficient with his time! He can get things done in an hour that would probably take me a day. He did take a little break for me to take a couple pictures outside, we just went right out in front of the house so it was pretty harmless. I KNOW he didn't want to get all bundled up but he did anyway, whata guy. Anyway, he's the best and here are a couple pictures. As you can tell, August is NOT happy about the snow either ;)

Cheap ideas for extra fabric!

I haven't gotten paint yet, but here is how the chair looks as of right now-what do you think?

For anyone who has extra fabric laying around the house (or even if you run out to Joanne fabrics for some super cheap/cute fabric), this is a great idea! I've seen it on a few blogs and what's so fun is that you can customize the look to your own taste/style! You can do this in any room and put it up to any other exsisting art/pictures that you already have. All you need are some embroidery hoops and fabric :)

I'm putting some left over owl fabric into a small hoop like this....

In a larger loop I have gray fabric and I'm going to put in a large letter A, also made with left over owl fabric..the A isn't done yet, but it'll be fun!

I'm going to paint them the same color as the chair and hang these beauties on the wall with some pictures of August, and hopefully another little idea I have in mind ;) can't wait!

PS: the hoops were only $1.50 for both! Such a cheap way to add some character to your rooms!

Fab Fabric

Ugh, okay I'm not good at naming my posts, so shoot me. This is the fabric I got today for the chair and I'm not gonna lie, I LOVE it. If I'm not snowed in tomorrow, I'm heading out for the paint-what do you think of the fab?

DIY

I got this little chair at a thrift store for five bucks and I'm pretty pumped to redo it! It's going in the playroom so I'm going to paint it and put a fun fabric on it. Hoping to have it done by saturday. Seriously though, five bucks people! Maybe ten dollars total to redo it, IF that. Not to mention you can make it one of a kind! I encourage all of you to make other peoples junk into your treasure ;)

Also, A is teething and I didn't think any of us would survive the day. But, here I am so it must not of been too terrible.

Sweet baby Connor

I took some pictures of my friends baby today, crazy how big August is next to him. August is still a little baby in my mind, so to see him next to a six week old reminds me that he's not! Kinda sad. But I don't think that ever changes when you are a parent. My mom says her sons that are grown men are still babies in her eyes. By the way, my mom is amazing. I should dedicate a post to how amazing she is, but I don't think I could fit it all into one...more like ten. Im going to take a before picture of my project tomorrow and hopefully finish it this weekend, but check back to see what it is because I'm so excited! For any of you substance people, you know Mark and Bonnie-they are great and Bonnie is hilarious! Here are some pics of their little man.

This was Marks little puppy growing up

A and Connor, can we just laugh at A's chin?

Things are about to get crafty around here

We cleaned out our guest room, to make room for a toy room and I've got big plans. Not really, but there are going to be some fun projects to help me make through the winter. So stay tuned. Also, Im really bad at spelling/sentence structure and I make no apologies. I had to put that out there because I feel paranoid. Check back soon!

These are a few of my favorite things

These are a few baby things that I use ALL the time and really recommend!

I searched all over online to find these plastic links and to my shock, target did NOT have them-total scandal. Anyway, August has LOVED these ever since he was a few weeks old. Since he's six months and STILL loves them, they are like the gift that keeps on giving! The colors and patterns are fun for newborns to look at and you can hang them right in front of them. Eventually they can put them in their mouth and chew on them, the different shapes are fun and they are so light/easy to move around which is perfect for a babe. I always hang them on the carseat for August when we cruise around and they never get old, makes the car fun for everyone!

Did I mention they are cheap? Perfect for how much we use them!

Ring-a-links

When August was born I knew I wanted an adorable hat for him to wear all winter long and lets be honost, in MN that can mean six months-so I had to make it count right? We got this hat from Baby gap (of course) and August pretty much lives in it. I get so many compliments on it, it's pretty irresistable right? It also comes with mittens. They also sell these hats as raccoons, polar bears, and maybe a few other animals. If you aren't even having a baby this winter, I would get it now so you can have it for when you do!

I know there is a lot of debate on the best way to "wear" your baby, blah blah blah. I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE my "snugglebuddie wrap". Its a moby, but stylish with a unique pattern. I wear August whenever I can and I love how close/tight it keeps him to me. My pattern is of little branches with birds on it. It also has a pocket in the front that is perfect for keeping little things (diaper, cell, etc). It also came with an adorable diaper holder, made of the same patterned material as the pocket.

Check out these other snugglebuddie wraps on ETSY

If you don't have a baby of your own, these items would make great gifts for friends/family that do!

Would you believe me if i Said its already been 6 months?

Ah crap. So much for my aspirations to be a frequent blogger, eh what can I say? I have a million things to blog about and then don't find the time, so I feel so backed up that I don't! One horror story is that I went to visit my (amazing) family in Illinois and our 1 our flight home turned into 4 hours on a plane and 3 hours at O'hare in chicago. Can you imagine? I was by myself with a five month old! There were a few tears (I won't disclose from who) but at least we made it home. In other news, August is six months! Where has the time gone? How does it go SO fast and what the heck am I doing with my life? Anyone else feel that way?

Anyways, here are his six month stats:

Height: 28.5 inches (97th percentile)
Weight: 17 lbs 11 oz (50th percentile)

He's still not breaking any records with rolling/moving. He's figured out that he can reach all his toys by spinning around on his tummy, so thats his "mode of transportation." I thought he rolled off the bed (which I may never recover from) and I couldn't figure it out because Ive never seen him log roll. I think he spun and got too close to the edge, then did a summersault off! Lesson learned for me.

Here are some pics of the little bug.

Okay I had to come back and add this one ;)

About Me

My photo
Ive always loved having family pictures taken. I love having those memories captured so that I can look back on them some day. In fact I have many photographer friends who Im always asking to take our pictures ;) Unfortunately they aren't around from day to day! My husband bought me a camera this year for Christmas and I am over-the-moon excited to have as many pictures of August and us as possible!
